ALLITT - Beverly Allitt, a 23 year old student nurse, was convicted in 1993 of 4 counts of murder, 4 counts of attempted murder and 8 counts of grievous bodily harm. While on duty in the children's ward in her local hospital, she tried to kill at least 23 children by injecting them with insulin and potassium, choking, breaking ribs and asphyxiation.
Allitt suffered from the rare Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy, which made her want to kill children in order to be the center of attention. Beverly Allitt now serves 13 life sentences in the Ramworth Maximum Security Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
